Elon Musk's team takes new action! These companies are clearly focusing on space photovoltaics
Photovoltaic industry chain stocks performed strongly on February 4th, with more than ten stocks including Shichuang Energy, CEEG, JinkoSolar, Shuangliang Eco-Energy, TCL Zhonghuan, GCL Integration hitting the daily limit.
In terms of news, according to reports from 21st Century Business Herald, Jiemian News, and other media outlets, Elon Musk’s team secretly visited several Chinese photovoltaic companies last week. The project inspections involved equipment, silicon wafers, and module components, with a focus on companies using heterojunction and perovskite technology routes. The listed companies involved include TCL Zhonghuan, JinkoSolar, Jing Sheng Electric, and others.
At the previous Swiss Davos Forum, Musk publicly supported space photovoltaics and stated that SpaceX and Tesla plan to build a total of 200GW of photovoltaic capacity in the United States over the next three years (each 100GW), mainly for ground data centers and space AI satellite power supply. Currently, Musk has decided to merge SpaceX with xAI (Musk’s artificial intelligence company) and actively promote SpaceX’s IPO. Market analysts believe this indicates Musk has prioritized the construction of orbital data centers.
CICC stated that solar energy, as an efficient and long-term energy supply method in space, is expected to see a broad market space with the rapid increase in satellite numbers and the deployment of space computing power. It is estimated that from 2025 to 2030, the demand for space photovoltaics will mainly serve traditional applications such as low Earth orbit satellites, with a market size potentially reaching hundreds of billions of yuan; after 2030, if space computing power enters an optimistic deployment phase, the demand for space photovoltaics could see a stepwise expansion.
Regarding individual stocks, Guosheng Securities research reports indicate that JunDa Co., Ltd., Dongfang Risheng, Qianzhao Optoelectronics, Trina Solar, Maiwei Co., Ltd., Shanghai Harbor, and Mingyang Smart Energy have all made clear layouts in the space photovoltaic field.
