Apple TV Movie "F1: Rush" Explodes in Popularity, Officially Hints at Sequel "Stay Tuned"
IT Home, February 5th — According to foreign media THR, during a recent Apple TV+ media event, Apple announced several new movies and series set to premiere in 2026, and also confirmed the renewal of a few popular titles.
At the end of the event, Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Apple Services, and Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, who flew in from Europe, responded to a reporter’s question, “Will there be another F1 movie?” by hinting to “stay tuned.”
We will reveal more information in the future. Never say never. But we need to first digest the success of this film because it was truly unique. If we make another one, it has to be very, very, very outstanding. So even if it happens, it won’t be next year. But maybe around this time next year, we’ll be able to announce something here again.
Eddy Cue then shifted the conversation back to Apple’s ecosystem strategy, revealing that this year, the Apple TV platform will broadcast 24 F1 Grand Prix races, jokingly adding, “I don’t know how it will end, so this is the world’s best ‘unscripted drama’.”
According to previous reports from IT Home, at the 2026 Grammy Awards, Apple TV+ was nominated for four categories with the film “F1: Drive to Survive,” winning one award for “Best Country Solo Performance.” This not only marks the 15th award the film has received this awards season but also boosts its momentum heading into the upcoming Oscars.
The film is currently nominated for several major Oscars, including “Best Picture,” “Best Sound,” “Best Visual Effects,” and “Best Editing.” As the awards season reaches its final stretch, expectations for this racing-themed blockbuster continue to rise both inside and outside the industry.
