Rembrandt's sketch sells for a record-breaking 12.7 million euros at auction

On February 4th, local time, a sketch by Dutch painter Rembrandt was sold at Sotheby’s in New York for 12.7 million euros, setting a new record for the highest sale price of a Rembrandt sketch. The previous record was 3.7 million euros. Rembrandt created this sketch titled “Young Lion Resting” between 1638 and 1642. It is understood that this is the only animal painting by Rembrandt still in private hands, and all proceeds from the auction will be used for animal protection. (CCTV News)
