Looking at China's grand history, before the opening of ports, there were some historical figures, but they were all confined within the frameworks of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The strongmen who appeared during the late Qing and Republican periods could see the world with open eyes and recognized issues intellectually, but in practice, they were still limited.
