Our country's first hybrid AC/DC cross-river project has been completed and put into operation
Today, the State Grid Corporation announced that China’s first cross-junction AC/DC hybrid cross-river project—the second phase of the 200 kV DC transmission line from Yangzhou to Zhenjiang in Jiangsu—has officially gone into operation. The project passes through seven counties in three cities: Huai’an, Yangzhou, and Zhenjiang, with a transmission distance of 228 kilometers and a transmission capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. Without adding new cross-river transmission channels across the Yangtze River, the existing cross-river transmission capacity will be tripled. After the project is operational, it can transmit over 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually to the power load centers in the Yangtze River Delta, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of about 2 million households. Among them, the proportion of renewable energy accounts for over 30%, and it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.6 million tons each year. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the State Grid will allocate 4 trillion yuan in fixed asset investments, focusing on ultra-high voltage projects, clean energy delivery, and inter-provincial flexible interconnection, to comprehensively strengthen grid construction and upgrades.
