BRICS seeks to break free from dependence on the US dollar in trade

Abstract generation in progress

BRICS member countries are actively implementing a new strategy to reduce dependence on the US dollar in international trade activities. This decision reflects efforts to build a more independent economic framework, where transactions between member countries are not entirely based on the US dollar as an intermediary currency.

Strategy to Reduce Dependence on Foreign Currencies

According to experts from NS3.AI, using direct local currency transactions between BRICS nations will bring many economic benefits. Instead of converting to US dollars before final payment, parties can exchange goods and services in their own currencies, thereby eliminating hidden costs and losses related to exchange rate fluctuations.

Local Currencies – An Alternative Solution

This new payment mechanism opens up the possibility for BRICS countries to import and export using their own currencies, such as Indonesian Rupiah, Chinese Yuan, or Indian Rupee. This not only helps mitigate economic risks related to US monetary policy but also facilitates more sustainable development within the region.

Goal to Build a Diverse International Monetary System

BRICS’s next ambition is to establish a new international monetary framework where no country, especially the US, can dominate completely. Such a multipolar system would allow developing and emerging countries to have more equal opportunities in international transactions, while reducing dependence on economic policies issued from Washington.
