Human behavior is often not determined solely by "character" or "personality," but is shaped by three deeper underlying factors: First, power and advantage amplify and reveal a person's true tendencies. When constraints are reduced, how someone treats the vulnerable is more indicative of their true nature than their behavior in favorable circumstances; Second, environment and systems can reshape a person's behavior over the long term. In environments filled with unpredictability, uncontrollability, and lack of support, even the most gentle individuals may be forced to change; Third, physiological states directly influence judgment and emotions. Hunger, fatigue, or stress can make people more conservative, impulsive, or indifferent. Psychology and behavioral research both point to a conclusion: understanding a person involves more than just what they say or how they perceive themselves. It requires observing their choices when in advantage, the environment they are in, and their reactions when mental and physical reserves are depleted. The greatest significance of this logic is to remind us to first become aware of ourselves and actively choose what kind of environment to shape ourselves in.
