$OPUL For the Messina bridge to support OPUL across multiple chains, 500M OPUL tokens were created on each supported chain. On each chain, the vast majority of these tokens are held in a bridge escrow vault — they are not in circulation. When you bridge OPUL from one chain to another, your tokens are locked in the escrow on the source chain, and an equal amount is released from the escrow on the destination chain. This ensures that the total circulating supply across all chains always stays at 500M.

The attacker exploited Messina's bridge relay contract on Arbitrum by forging bridge messages. This caused the Arbitrum escrow to release OPUL as if they were legitimate bridge transfers — but nothing was locked on the source chain. No real bridge transactions occurred on Algorand during the attack. The attacker then dumped these tokens on DEXes.

We have now secured all remaining tokens from the Messina bridge. No further tokens can be drained.

All Opulous staking and platform contracts are safe.

Investigation is ongoing.
