6 Years After the Historic Crash: What Did Bitcoin Patience Reward?
In the crypto market, there’s a saying that’s almost always true: “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” And with Bitcoin, it seems to repeat itself time and time again.
Every time the market crashes, Bitcoin is declared “dead.” But history shows that after each of these events, it often comes back stronger than before.
A crash that caused panic across the market
Six years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and nearly froze the world, the global financial markets plunged into panic.
Bitcoin was no exception.
In just one day, Bitcoin’s price dropped nearly 50%, from around $8,200 to below $4,700. In less than a week, BTC fell from $9,000 to a bottom of about $3,720, losing nearly 60% of its value.
Immediately, many experts and analysts declared Bitcoin a failure, even losing its role as a “safe haven asset.”
Looking at the volatility at that time, this assessment seemed reasonable.
But in the long run, the story is completely different.
The patient have been rewarded
After the historic crash in 2020, Bitcoin not only recovered but entered a strong growth cycle.
In early 2021, the price had increased tenfold from the COVID bottom. About 1.5 years later, Bitcoin reached nearly $69,000.
By the end of 2025, BTC hit a new high above $126,000.
From the bottom of around $3,720, the increase to the 2025 peak is over 3,300%.
Even if the market corrects and BTC currently hovers around $70,000, the profit compared to the crisis bottom remains extremely impressive.
Is history repeating itself?
Currently, Bitcoin is trading about 50% below its October 2025 peak. And once again, familiar statements are appearing:
“Bitcoin is dead.”
“The cycle is over.”
“Crypto is about to collapse.”
Meanwhile:
Gold and silver are attracting capital.
Stock markets are still growing.
Geopolitical and global economic instability continues to rise.
But looking back at Bitcoin’s history, none of this is new.
Bitcoin has never been an easy path
Bitcoin has been “terminated” many times over its more than a decade existence. But after each of these, it recovered and reached higher prices than before.
The truth is:
Bitcoin always experiences deep corrections.
Large volatility is part of the market’s nature.
And the worst phases often come before strong growth cycles.
Even after becoming a trillion-dollar asset, major corrections can still happen and may continue for many years.
The biggest lesson
The market often makes investors most fearful just when the greatest opportunities appear.
Therefore, instead of judging Bitcoin only by its worst days, perhaps it’s more important to look at its entire journey.
Because history has repeatedly shown:
After Bitcoin’s darkest moments, the strongest growth phases usually follow.
