🚨 Saudi Arabia Had a Backup Plan — But It’s Not Foolproof
While all eyes are on the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia has a long-standing Plan B:
A 1,200 km pipeline from the Persian Gulf to the Red Sea (built in 1981).
Capacity: ~7 million barrels/day
→ Enough to keep major oil flows moving if Hormuz is disrupted.
But here’s the reality:
• Doesn’t cover all exports
• Depends on vulnerable infrastructure
• Already targeted before (2019 attacks)
So no—oil supply isn’t “fully blocked” in a crisis.
But it’s also far from secure.
What markets are pricing now:
• Can oil actually move?
• Which routes remain safe?
• How resilient is supply?
Bottom line:
This isn’t a solution—it’s a buffer.
Saudi planned ahead, but risk isn’t gone… just delayed.
