Pi KYC Verification: A Complete Guide to Approval

Pi Network is an innovative digital currency developed by Stanford researchers that has attracted millions of users worldwide. To transfer mined Pi coins to the mainnet and conduct transactions, users must complete the Pi KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process. This guide contains all the necessary information to successfully approve your KYC application.

Requirements and Conditions for Pi KYC Application

Before starting the Pi KYC verification process, you must meet several eligibility criteria:

  • Age: You must be at least 18 years old
  • Government-issued ID: An original document is required (not a photo of an existing document). Accepted documents include:
    • Passport (recommended)
    • Driver’s license
    • National ID card
  • Clear facial photo: Your face must be clearly visible and match the photo on your ID. The system will automatically capture your image during presence verification.
  • Mining period: You must have mined Pi for at least 30 days (not necessarily consecutively) before applying for verification
  • Processing time: Filling out the Pi KYC application takes approximately 5-10 minutes

Important: Conditions, requirements, and availability may vary depending on your location or country of residence.

Pi KYC Application Approval Procedure: 10 Steps

Below is a detailed description of each step in the Pi KYC verification process:

Step 1 and 2: Prepare your application
Install the Pi Browser app (available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store if you don’t have it yet). Open the Pi Network app and go to the Mainnet section available in the side menu.

Step 3: Complete preparatory tasks
In the Mainnet tab, complete all tasks leading up to the Pi KYC verification, until you reach the “Submit your KYC application” task.

Step 4: Unlock the KYC application
After completing previous tasks, the Pi KYC application tab will be unlocked. Tap it to start the process. If it doesn’t open, manually visit “kyc.pi” in your browser.

Step 5: Select your country
On the first screen of the Pi KYC form, select your country from the dropdown list. It must match the country on your government-issued ID.

Step 6: Choose document type
Next, specify the type of document you will use for verification. A passport is recommended.

Step 7: Review instructions
You will see four slides with detailed instructions on how to use your ID document. Read them carefully and press “Next.”

Step 8: Photograph your document
Press “Add front photo” — the camera will activate. Capture a clear, landscape-oriented image of the front of your document. If your ID has a back side with important information, also add its photo.

Step 9: Fill out the Pi KYC verification form
After submitting the document photo, you will see a form to fill out. Enter the data exactly as it appears on your ID:

  • First name
  • Middle name (optional)
  • Last name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Document number
  • Expiry date
  • Country of residence

Step 10: Presence verification
After submitting the form, proceed to the final step — presence check to confirm you are a real person. Tap “I’m ready,” and the camera will turn on automatically. Hold your device in front of your face so it is clearly visible to the system.

Once these steps are completed, your Pi KYC verification application will be submitted for review.

Waiting Time and Verification Status

The approval process can take from a few days up to several months. In rare cases, if all data is accurate and there are enough verifiers in your region, approval may occur within minutes.

Your application status will change to either accepted or rejected. If your ID is not clear enough or the system cannot read key details (such as face, name, or country), you may be asked to retake photos of your ID or selfie.

Checking Pi KYC Status

To view your Pi KYC verification status, visit your profile in the Pi Network app. A green checkmark next to “Identity Verification (KYC)” indicates successful verification. A loading animation means the app is awaiting review.

Alternatively, you can check the status in the Mainnet control tab — if the “Waiting for KYC results” card is green, your Pi KYC has been approved.

Note: After approval, some users report that the control tab in the app does not turn green. This may be a technical issue. In such cases, rely mainly on the status shown in the Pi KYC browser.

How Pi KYC Verification is Evaluated

Due to the large number of Pi Network users, the Core team cannot personally verify each application. Instead, a peer-to-peer system is used, where verified verifiers (people who have already completed Pi KYC) review new applications.

After submitting documents, the application goes to the first verifier. After their review, it proceeds to a second verifier. If both verifiers approve your application, you pass the Pi KYC.

Verifiers are usually from your country, which speeds up and simplifies the review process. For each application reviewed, verifiers receive 1 Pi coin as a reward. Your application is charged 1 Pi coin, which is distributed among the verifiers.
