Popular blockchain analyst zachxbt uncovered a complex scam at the end of December when he drew attention to an account on platform X claiming to be a victim of a Trust Wallet hack. According to TechFlow, zachxbt was able to expose this account as a highly coordinated scam, detailing the methods used to deceive other users.

How the Fake Account Was Exposed

zachxbt began verifying the claims by analyzing the digital behavior of the suspicious account. It was revealed that the account owner changed their username at least 44 times, an unusually high pattern indicating organized fraudulent activity. Additionally, the account was only active with 234 tweets since its creation in 2023, a very low number compared to its claims of being a genuine victim seeking help.

Suspicious Behaviors That Reveal Scammers

Further details uncovered a broader scam network, with the account involved in multiple memecoin scams, suggesting its activities extended beyond impersonating a Trust Wallet victim. Notably, zachxbt had previously blocked this account based on other suspicious behavioral patterns. This case highlights the importance of caution toward new accounts claiming to be cyberattack victims, especially those using fake identities to attract attention and gain the trust of other users.
