Prime Minister Kim Myung-soo has defined the current economic situation, facing various challenges, as an “emergency,” strongly indicating the government’s resolve to address domestic and international economic uncertainties. At the “K-Government Policy Briefing” held at the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul’s Central District on the 23rd, Prime Minister Kim mentioned the economic pressures caused by external factors such as the Middle East conflict and expressed high vigilance toward the rapidly changing situation.

Prime Minister Kim stated, “We are in the process of laying a new democratic foundation after overcoming internal turmoil,” and emphasized that the government will move toward a pragmatic, reform-oriented, and centrist integration approach. He assessed that this direction, communicated with the majority of the people, is a practical and successful path.

On the other hand, regarding North-South relations, Prime Minister Kim pointed out North Korea’s tough stance and emphasized efforts to avoid unnecessary provocation. He referenced Germany’s reunification as an example, indicating that the future development of the current tense situation remains unpredictable.

The government concluded its communication with citizens through this policy briefing and plans to strengthen non-face-to-face communication via the “K-Online Government Q&A.” Prime Minister Kim plans to conduct a nationwide review and inspection of key policies and security sectors from April to June, focusing on policy improvements that reflect public opinion.

This trend indicates a need for government and businesses to collaborate based on trust to overcome uncertainties together. Experts have commented that this could become an opportunity for South Korea’s economy to overcome current challenges and quickly lay the foundation for future growth.
