I just saw that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is coming to Mexico soon, and honestly, its telephoto camera has me quite intrigued. This phone features a 200-megapixel sensor with continuous optical zoom from 3x to 4.3x, which is almost new in smartphones. The lens group moves physically to maintain quality across the entire range, unlike traditional zooms that switch between lenses.
What's interesting is that Xiaomi is combining a 1-inch, 50-megapixel main sensor with this 200-megapixel telephoto. All with Leica branding, so the photo quality promises to be quite professional. It also has a 6.9-inch OLED display with 3,500 nits of brightness and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The 6,000 mAh battery with 90W charging is good, although it's smaller than the Chinese version.
If you're looking for something more compact, the regular Xiaomi 17 also has 50-megapixel cameras with a 2.6x telephoto and 100W charging. The prices in Europe are 999 euros for the Xiaomi 17 and 1,499 euros for the Ultra. There’s no exact release date for Mexico yet, but they say it will be soon. Is anyone else looking forward to these phones? The telephoto camera really looks like a generational leap.
