just saw this trending on weibo and it's wild lol. turns out jun ji-hyun's husband choi jun-hyuk lost massive money in some blockchain game called wemix. we're talking 15.8 billion won in losses. like, that's life-changing money for most people, but apparently not for him.
so what happened? alpha asset management (his company) invested in wemade's wemix token. the game got hacked back in february, thieves stole about 9 billion won, but they didn't announce it until 4 days later. by then everyone already knew anyway. the token got delisted from korean exchanges, relisted with warnings, and now it's being delisted again starting july 2nd. currently trading at like $0.25 if you're curious.
the wild part is he bought the stock at 34,894 won and 63,887 won back in late 2023 and early 2024, thinking it was a solid move. now it's down to 25,000 won. his fund holds 35 billion won in wemade stock that's basically bleeding value. choi jun-hyuk used to work at bank of america before taking over alpha asset management in 2019, so you'd think he'd know better lol.
anyway, the whole thing blew up on weibo yesterday. 'jun ji-hyun's husband lost 15 billion in crypto' is literally trending. kinda embarrassing when your celebrity spouse becomes part of the headline, right?
