The worst hacker of the year is born! 1 billion DOT dumped—only earned $237,000
$DOT
I can’t stop laughing, folks—this attack really left me dumbfounded.
Hyperbridge was exploited by hackers, who created 1 billion bridged DOT out of thin air; in theory, they could’ve earned $1.2 billion. In the end, the dump crushed the coin’s price all the way to zero, and they only cashed out $237,000.
So after all that hustle, they couldn’t even pay their hacker team’s wages—truly the most money-losing attack in crypto history.
⚠️ Key reminder: Don’t panic-sell your native DOT!
Polkadot officials have already said that only the mapping DOT bridged from Hyperbridge to Ethereum has issues. The Polkadot mainnet, the native DOT of parachains, and assets on other bridges are all safe.

This incident also serves as a reminder to everyone:
1. Cross-chain bridges are always a minefield—if you can avoid niche bridges, don’t use them
2. Bridged assets ≠ native assets—when something goes wrong, no one will cover you
3. Don’t believe in “market cap.” Low-liquidity coins are just paper wealth—when you dump, you can’t even sell them
All I can say is that hackers got taught a lesson by liquidity, and retail investors should stop blindly rushing into those shallow, trash coins.
